It is never ideal to see an odds-on favourite spotting the field a length or so in running but despite always being a clear last Gina's Hope didn't really give connections and punters any concern as she travelled so sweetly during the running of the BM58 1200m contest at Echuca on Wednesday.
And it was a beautifully timed run made by Jarrod Fry who had the promising filly circling the field into the straight - and once she let go it was obvious that she had her rivals covered with the race caller Adam Olszanski declaring that "this was easy - from dead last to first and clocked off near the line, Gina's Hope's obviously got plenty of talent."
She sure does, this impressive victory her second from just three starts with her maiden success at Kyneton in mid-November also catching the eye.
"The instructions were just to ride her like the best horse in the race, get out the back and make one run around them," Mitchell said.
"She was able to sustain that long run and the win was a soft one."
"We were originally preparing her for Moonee Valley on Friday night so she should improve with a more tailored program heading towards Caulfield on Boxing Day."
"It seems as though there is more to come and I am confident that she will measure up to city grade."
