The gorgeous 3yo colt by Churchill, Attrition broke his maiden at Sandown on Wednesday January 11 in dazzling style.
Returning a stronger, more furnished product after two unlucky runs in his two-year old season, Attrition burned clear of his rivals at Sandown. Attrition was partnered by last season’s leading country rider Jarrod Fry, who has built a great association with the horse in his work and jump outs away from raceday. Fry settled back in the field from a wide gate and Attrition’s turn of foot needs to be seen to be believed – not many can win at Sandown in this fashion.
Fry described Attrition’s turn of foot as “dynamic” and said the colt was waiting for him to “pull the trigger” before putting away his rivals in what some owners have described ‘the most exciting win I’ve been involved in.’
Attrition’s victory has turned heads within the Racing Community in what could be uncovering of a very promising horse to follow into the Autumn. Post-race, Freedman expressed his gratitude for the faithful owners in Attrition, who races in the colours of Colin McKenna’s Halo Racing and includes some of Freedman’s greatest supporters, McGrath Racing, Mr Paul Gorey and the Norton Family.
Attrition was scouted and purchased by Mitch from the 2021 Melbourne Premier Sale out of the prestigious Mill Park draft. From the first time Freedman set eyes on the horse, “He was a great athlete that was going to improve with time, he had a lot Galileo about him and I thought he was a great fit for my system”
Freedman is looking forward to the next period of his stable, as many more of his recent purchases hit the track. “We have some exciting unraced stock that will be stepping out in the next month or two and I am confident we have some nice horses to follow.” With the yearling sales in full swing, Freedman is working diligently to find his next star.
