Progressive mare Birthday Suit was too slick for her opponents on Sunday at Terang, winning by 2.25 lengths.

Birthday Suit is a very consistent horse, who has picked up a cheque in eleven of her twelve starts and always puts in 100%. A daughter of Better Than Ready, Birthday Suit took some time to break her maiden, which resulted in her having a low rating and being eligible for 0-58 racing and she proved on Sunday that she is superior to the class.

Birthday Suit’s victory broke a run of placings for team Freedman, with nine of his twenty-one starters for the month finishing in the minor money.

Now going to a rating of 61, we feel Birthday Suit is in for a very enjoyable campaign and can string together a few victories in the Autumn and early winter months. On a heavy track at Terang, Freedman was unsure how Birthday Suit would get through the ground, having placed twice on soft ground to begin her career. “She profiled well to be winning third-up in that grade. The wet track threw a spanner in the works, but it was great to see her win for her local connections”

A large percentage of Birthday Suit’s owners are based in the South West and ventured to Terang to be there for her win. Reports from the Terang Racing Committee are they were glad it was Race 8 not Race 1 otherwise it could have been a very, VERY large day for connections.
