How about the first-start win of Ceerseven yesterday at Ararat! The 3yo son of Complacent was simply dominant over 1300m, clearing away for a 3length victory.

Ceerseven is named after soccer superstar Christiano Ronaldo, who famously wears number seven. The idea for his name come from part owner Rachel Forrest, who’s ‘dream job’ would be to name horses. Ceerseven’s half brother, Fa Fa, is a six-time winner in Hong Kong and is named after another soccer player, Fafa Picault, therefore Forrest thought it would be right to keep the tradition going within the family.

Freedman was very pleased with the son of Complacent and feels he is only going to continue to improve with time and racing. He should improve out to a mile and even further during his career, which is very exciting for Freedman and the ownership group that he put in such a great performance yesterday over 1300m. With the Autumn on our doorstep, there could perhaps be some metropolitan targets for Ceerseven in 3yo restricted grade, depending on how he comes through his victory.

From his first day at the stable, Freedman loved the athleticism and free movement of the gelding and felt he was a nice horse in the making. “He has always had a good action on him. I liked him as a yearling because the dam-sire is Elnadim and I previously associated with a nice horse, the Group 1 winning Culminate, who has a similar breeding to Ceerseven. When I saw him for the first time, he was a neat, athletic type very similar to Culminate.”

Ceerseven adds to Freedman’s impressive win record with purchases out of the Karaka sales. His most recent purchase is a lovely Almanzor filly, a beautiful ‘Oaks’ style of filly and we can’t wait to see her in the stables. Shares are still available to get involved in the winning formula!
