Docinthe added his second career victory with a barnstorming finish at Echuca on Friday May 3.

First up off a little freshen, Docinthe returned to winning ways, scoring by a narrow margin.

The son of Cable Bay has been a model of consistency throughout his career and was racing well in the summer months, including being narrowly beaten by less than a length on two of the previous three occasions. Still being lightly raced, Freedman elected to give Docinthe a little freshen up, utilising the Aqua Treadmill at HSP Equine Centre before returning with an impressive trial and now first up win.

Troy and the team at HSP provide a fantastic service and the Aqua Treadmill is a great tool for horses returning to work, or for those who need a freshen up before returning to the races. We are very grateful for their work and Docinthe was a favourite of their team, so it is pleasing to see him back in the winners stall.

Docinthe found himself with a difficult rating of 61 and somewhat in ‘no man’s land’, between getting a start in the competitive benchmark 64 racing in Victoria, or carrying the weight in a benchmark 58. Fortunately, his classed proved superior at Echuca under the guidance of Jarrod Fry.

Docinthe will be a horse to keep an eye on in the coming months as the Polytrack Racing Season commences later this month. He showed that he can handle the surface, racing well in the winter months last year of his first racing preparation.

Congratulations to all involved!
