Birthday Suit was a dominant winner on July 5, winning the 1400m Fillies & Mares maiden by 3.5 lengths. 
Birthday Suit has been banging the door down to break her maiden and her owners were rewarded for their patience today. In only her third career start, Freedman elected to race her in stakes grade, such was his confidence in Birthday Suit’s ability. Now deep into her second preparation, the three-year old filly has continued to improve and mature with racing.
Partnered by Jake Noonan, Birthday Suit took luck out of the equation, settling in a forward position and relishing the step up to 1400m, sustaining a strong run to the line. Post-race Freedman said “She has raced without luck in many of her starts. She was able to put herself in a nice spot today and that victory will boost her confidence in the future.”
The win today was extremely special for Freedman team member Emily, who strapped her first winner for the team on her birthday. Emily was very excited to be strapping today, saying “strapping Birthday Suit on my birthday… it has to be an omen!” Please join us in wishing a big happy birthday to Emily!
Freedman purchased Birthday Suit at the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast sale. Freedman has had great success with fillies purchased in the sunshine state, including Birthday Suit and the impressive two-year old filly Vagrant.
