Safe Secret bolted in at Echuca on Sunday April 10, first up for almost 12 months. Safe Secret caught the eye of many form experts and jump out followers, having impressed four times at the jump outs. Whilst many punters were eagerly awaiting his return, Freedman stuck to his process, ensuring he was ‘ready to go’ first up at Echuca. It was a thrilling result for the connections and the team to see Safe Secret come out and perform the way he did.Safe Secret ridden by Tahlia Hope wins the EDG Space Maiden Plate at Echuca Racecourse on April 10, 2022 in Echuca, Australia. The son of Lonhro has had a unique journey back to the races. Unfortunately, Safe Secret’s 2yo campaign was cut short due to a respiratory issue. Safe Secret was bound for Hong Kong but his condition meant he would not pass the vets, yet Freedman had such confidence in the horse’s ability that he purchased him back. When it became time to syndicate, Safe Secret was sold in minutes, a testimony to an incredible opportunity to be involved with a horse that oozes class.

A relieved Freedman said post-race “We were really disappointed when the horse had to have a wind operation, however I knew that he had class on his side and that was evident with his first up win.” Now that his maiden is out of the way, Safe Secret is certainly bound for bigger and better things.

A big thank you to the M F staff and Secret’s loyal connections.
