The 2023/2024 racing season has been triumphant for Mitch Freedman. An astronomical year of success including his maiden Group 1 victory, record season by winners and now a new career milestone, with Sontay delivering his 300th career winner.
Freedman and his team have continued to go from strength to strength after establishing his soul training operation in Warrnambool 11 years ago. Freedman’s horsemanship, incredible work ethic and dedication to his training has seen him establish himself as a premier trainer in the state, sitting within the top 20 of the Trainer’s Premiership whilst maintaining the equal 2nd best strike rate amongst the top 20, (17.50%*) for the season to date.
It was fitting that Sontay, wearing the Red and Black Stars of McGrath Racing was the horse to reach the milestone. The McGrath Racing team have been loyal supporters of the stable for almost 10 years and have been loyal to Freedman throughout his rise through the ranks.
