Tararua has been a model of consistency this preparation and finally burst through for a victory after a string of minor placings.
The 5yo son of Squamosa has showed talent through out his career, often contesting midweek bench mark races. This preparation, the sights were lowered and he has repaid the faith showed by his ownership group in what was his swan song race for the stable.
Tararua jumped cleanly from barrier 5 and was travelling strongly behind the hot speed, looking the winner a long, long way from home and it was really pleasing to see him knuckle down late and put the field away. Congratulations to Mr Matt Fraser and the ownership group with Tararua on scoring his third career victory.
