Sunday Fun Day lived up to his name, scoring a debut win at Ballarat on Sunday February 25.

Making his first start as a 4yo, Sunday Fun Day has required patience from his ownership group and it was pleasing to see him repay the faith on debut. In the spring of 2023, he was accepted to race at Warrnambool but unfortunately came down with a virus and subsequently went to the paddock. He made good physical development this time round, and Freedman was delighted start the gelding’s career in a winning way.

Freedman said post-race “He’s a horse who’s been developing nicely at home, he’s got good talent but was a little slow in the mind.” Now with a win on the board, Freedman will take his time with his gelding, stepping him up through the grades and seeking to build on his winning record. “We will take him slowly through the grades and chase some prize money along the way.”

Sunday Fun Day is raced by a new ownership group to the stable and the start of an exciting journey throughout his career.  We are very grateful for the opportunity to train Sunday Fun Day and thank the ownership group for having the confidence in our team.

Keep an eye out for this gelding next start, even if it’s not on a Sunday!
