Being a ‘former local’ training out of Warrnambool and the Primmer family Warrnambool royalty, it was a great thrill for the team to see Ti Tree Lad break his maiden in impressive style at the Warrnambool Carnival. The Warrnambool Carnival is one of the greatest celebrations on the racing calendar and it is a great thrill to have runners at the carnival, let alone a winner!
The Mitch Freedman team have had runners at the carnival for a decade now, including a number of placings and one soul winner being Princess Lou Ling back in 2016. Ti Tree Lad bucked the trend and overcame the unfavourable conditions on the day, saluting by 1.25lengths.
As always at the ‘Bool, there was a big tip going around the betting ring and this one was coming straight from the trainers mouth. “I was very confident that he could come to the Warrnambool Carnival and be really competitive. It’s a great thrill to be winning down here and I couldn’t be happier to win a race in the colours of my good friend Josh Julius.”
Post race Freedman acknowledged the passing of Josh’s grandmother, in what certainly was a special moment for the family to see their colours winning.
Congratulations to the connections of Ti Tree Lad, many who are first time owners with our team. Ti Tree Lad looks to be a horse with a very bright future and is certainly one to keep in the black book.
