We would like to inform all our clients that we have elected to shift the location of our stables to Ballarat, this is planned to occur in early October. We have enjoyed our time in Warrnambool and Crossley however we feel to enhance our business that a move was necessary. We chose Ballarat after looking also at Cranbourne because of the location and excellent facilities available. Ballarat still enables us to travel to the Western District and Wimmera areas which we have a really good handle on the tracks and selecting the right horses to take to those tracks. I felt Cranbourne would of eliminated some of the courses in the western part of the state because of the extended travel time.
Our new stables are nearly completed and are located just near the main entrance to the Ballarat Turf Club. The complex has 35 undercover boxes, 6 day yards, 12 horse walker, treadmill, two paddocks, sand roll, office facilities, kitchenette, feed room, tack room, wash bay and tie up stalls. It will be a visually and functionally impressive complex.
Ballarat Trainers have access to an uphill training track, sand track, bull ring, grass training track, course proper, pool and schooling lanes. It is a forever developing training centre and has improved in leaps and bounds since I spent time working there between 2007 and 2010.
We understand that this may come as a surprise to some of our clients however with restrictions and uncertainty surrounding beach access we feel that being situated in Warrnambool is not viable for the growth of our business and our future. Freedman Racing has built a solid foundation on resurrecting older horses that have issues but in recent times we have started to bring along our own young horses and we feel this is the way to develop the business going forward. We will continue to take on older horses at our new establishment and our time at the beach will hold us in good stead for this but to reach the top level we feel it necessary to develop young stock in our system.
At present a number of the current staff will shift with us and continue their employment at Freedman Racing, I see this as a testament to a happy work place, love for the horses and a passion to develop themselves along with the business. They can see what we are looking to achieve and want to be along for the ride.
Please don’t hesitate to call and discuss this with myself or Jenna. We would also like to inform everyone that we will be having a stable open day on Ballarat Cup Day followed by hosting a marquee at the races and would appreciate as many people to come along as possible. There will be an invite with further details sent out in the near future/
