Seacryption added her second career victory at Kerang on December 28 with a barnstorming finish, looping the field from last to first, winning by a short head.

A patient ride by Madison Lloyd ensured that the mare was comfortable in running, flowing through her gears as the race improved and finding the line strongly. Approaching the 600m as the race started to unfold, Lloyd was able to follow another of the key chances into the race and at the top of the straight, it looked like Seacryption was going to have every opportunity to run home strongly. The mare has found herself in this situation a couple of times in races before and not finished to the best of her ability, so it was a great thrill to see her really attack the line.

We are hopeful that Seacryption’s performance is a line in the sand moment and the victory gives her the confidence to go on with the job. Freedman said post race “she is a horse that travels up strongly but hasn’t been finding a whole lot off the bridle. It has been a work in progress teaching her to keep improving under race pressure and it was really pleasing to see her finish off like that.”

The preparation thus far has not all been smooth sailing with circumstances out of our control and being a mare that needs a firm surface to be running to her best,  deep into the summer months, it would be fantastic to see this mare rise through the grades.
