After four second placings in a row, Seattle Hope is no doubt one of the most deserved maiden winners in the country! That wish came true at Kerang on Saturday December 28, when the daughter of Squamosa put on a dazzling display, dominating her rivals by three lengths.

As a Vobis Platinum horse, purchased out of the Inglis Premier Sale of 2022, the team had ultimately been seeking to win a lucrative Vobis Platinum maiden with the mare and she went ever so close not once but twice, placing second two occasions. Whilst a win is always the target, the accumulation of more than $10,000 for each second placing is a great testament to the Vobis scheme and gives her owners the opportunity to race for great prize money, time and time again. Now with a maiden win on the board and just shy of $50,000 in the bank, Seattle Hope has surpassed her original purchase prize of $40,000, with plenty more racing to come.

Seattle Hope has a heartfelt back story as to where her stable name Hope originated, with a special meaning to her ownership group, particularly the Le Marshall family. Bob & Lyndie, loyal supporters of the stable, recall “We purchased 10% share of Hope following the stable open day in 2023. Lyndie decided to allocate her half to all their family members (including Beau as part of the extended family). Beau had a very unfortunate accident while swimming in the Murray River resulting in spinal injuries that left him a paraplegic 4 or 5 years ago. He was the person who proposed the stable name ‘Hope’ – representing his life after the accident.” Family think she is a gem and love the excitement of race day and how Hope brings us together.” When asking Beau about the mare, Beau commented “it’s Always good to have something to look forward to, I don’t have much these days, and to share the times with great people is even better.”

There is no doubt that Seattle Hope’s sweet, heart warming nature and willingness to please, is a testament to ‘Hope’ and a great example that horse racing is an amazing way to bring people together. Congratulations to all involved!
