Smart Little Miss possesses a dazzling turn of foot and she was able to make it two from two this preparation, launching over the top of her rivals at Caulfield Heath.
Smart Little Miss was an eye catching winner at Terang almost a month ago, settling at the back of the small field and bursting away for an easy victory. Stepping up in grade yesterday, it was a ‘rinse and repeat’ as she boomed home over the top of them, running the arms off the clock.
With only a field of 6, Yendall was able to tack on to the back of the field which had set a hot tempo, before making his move around them coming into the straight. At the 200m, she still was three lengths off them but she was able to really let rip in the final furlong to win by half a length. Yendall commented post-race “she absolutely bolted. She travelled good (for her) and coming to the straight my only concern is if it would be long enough for her, but she steamed past them”
Mitch Freedman was full of praise for his team at home. She is a unique mare who requires some extra treatment, and the team have done a fantastic job in presenting her in great shape. “We were still learning about her (in her first prep) and she was very unlucky a couple of times. Returning this time round, we’ll continue keeping her fresh and happy going to the races.”
Congratulations to the connections of Smart Little Miss, mares in form can often hold it, so keep an eye out for her in May!
