Promising galloper Sacramental added his third career victory on Good Friday at Echuca in front of his home crowd, with more than 50 owners and connections on course to see him win!
In each of his racing campaigns to date, Sacramental has been very effective first up, with a win on debut and a second by the narrowest of margins last time round. This trend continued with a comfortable victory in the Class 3 Up and Comers event. It was a great piece of riding from John Allen, who was able to sneak through the inside gap as the leader came off the fence and as soon as Sacramental shot through, the race was his for the taking.
A pleased Freedman said post-race “he has had a very good grounding this preparation and was fit and ready to fire today. He has good form first up and we were confident he would put in a good performance, however he is a horse with a few tricks, which was evident that when he hit the front he thought the job was done.”
With an eye on the future, the team are confident the son of Sacred Falls can improve through the grades this preparation, now a furnished and mature 4year-old. “He has been very good early in his previous campaigns but not able to sustain that deep into a preparation. We hope to see his physical improvement come to the fore now as an older horse, being able to maintain his condition and ultimately keep improving with racing.” Freedman said.
Raced in partnership with Roll The Dice racing, who have a strong association in the Bendigo / Campaspe region, it was a great thrill to see so many owners on track to enjoy his win. There is nothing like watching your horse win live! Congratulations to the ownership group and we look forward to seeing him back at the races in May.
