Sweet City Dancer broke her maiden in emphatic style, accelerating through the field to an easy, two length victory. Sweet City Dancer made her debut at Kerang at their Christmas meeting and was very unlucky not to be winning, even with the lodgement of a protest. It was a sense of redemption to head back up the Loddon Valley Highway to go one better, this time at their Easter meeting.

The lightly raced daughter of Ilovethiscity ran enormous at Ballarat early in April, narrowly beaten in a Vobis bonus maiden and looked well poised at Kerang, which loomed as the obvious next target. Sent around as favourite, Jake Duffy gave her a fantastic ride, continuing the fruitful partnership with the Freedman team at Kerang in delivering another victory together.
Freedman said post-race “she is a very competitive filly who always gives her all, she has continued to improve with racing and will only keep getting better with time. She arguably should have won on debut, but it’s really pleasing to now have her maiden out of the way.”
Sweet City Dancer was purchased for $20,000 out of the Adelaide Magic Millions Sale and has already recouped these costs for her ownership group only five starts into her racing career. We plan to see Sweet City Dancer return to the races at Ararat on Saturday May 10 and hope to see her make it two wins in a row!
