Adjudicate is a lightly raced stayer who has showed good improvement at each of his first three career starts before breaking through for his maiden victory on Friday May 9 at Geelong.
The son of Dundeel is out of a prestigious family, a half relation to Group 1 winner Secret Agenda and Group 1 performer Tutta La Vitta and has always shown the team staying ability, but has required some patience along the way. Freedman said “He always presented as a nice 3-year-old in the making and has slowly been chipping away, improving his craft. He can be lazy at home and appreciated the addition of blinkers in racing, and we are very pleased to get his maiden out of the way.”
Stepping beyond 2000m for the first time, Adjudicate was able to hold a position just better than midfield and travelled sweetly for John Allen. His staying prowess came to the fore and John Allen’s patience to allow the race to unfold for the pair, as he was able to dash up in the last 400m and proved too strong for his rivals.
Adjudicate is raced by McGrath Racing and a great mix of loyal stable clients, and some first-time owners who were thrilled to have a result with the team. The Freedman camp has had a great three months, with fifteen winners coming from February onwards.
Keep an eye out for Adjudicate in the Red and Black Stars on Saturday at Flemington, where he will be stepping up to restricted 3-year-old grade and will take his part in the forthcoming Mahogany Series over the winter months.
