From the very beginning, long-time owner Mike Hirst has been a strong supporter of Mitch Freedman Racing, and today that loyalty was rewarded in the best way possible—Tell Us Toll broke her maiden in style at the home track in Ballarat.
The daughter of Nostradamus has required plenty of patience from both Hirst and Freedman, enduring a few setbacks early in her career. But today, she was primed and ready—hard fit and perfectly placed for a confident ride by jockey Declan Bates.
Now a five-year-old mare, Tell Us Toll has finished in the placings in five of her ten career starts. Today’s win was all class: jumping cleanly from barrier 2, Bates took her straight to the front, controlled the tempo, and never looked back—guiding her to an all-the-way victory by one and a half lengths.
Trainer Mitch Freedman was pleased with the performance, noting:
“She had jumped out well on the surface and won with a bit in hand today. She looks to have a good polytrack season ahead of her.”
We’d like to wish all our clients the very best for the weekend—and the best of luck to all runners heading to the races. Here’s to continued success!
