One year to the day from breaking his maiden, Mr Shorty raced by Roll The Dice Racing adds a second career victory at Echuca when stepping out in trip for the first time over 2100 metres.
Partnered by Will Price, Mr Shorty jumped away cleanly from a wide barrier and was allowed to stride forward to put himself on speed. The son of Puissance Du Lune settle into a nice rhythm throughout and responded quickly when asked for an effort.
“He got into a lovely spot outside the lead, he always travelled really sweetly underneath me. I kept him off the rail a bit, the track didn’t play very nicely down to the inside.” Explains Will.
“He cruised into it, he started to have a look when he hit the front. As a bit of pressure came, he pinned his ears back again and still won with a bit in hand.”
Finding the middle of the track up the home straight, Mr Shorty looked to wander slightly when out in front on his own. Will Price did a superb job at keeping the momentum going to hit the line with a bit in hand late to win clear of the field by one and half lengths.
Congratulations to Roll The Dice Racing and all involved!
