Ho Ho’s Hobart Cup Dominance
Journeyman Ho Ho Khan added some more silverware for the Mitch Freedman team, demolishing the field in the Group 3 Hobart Cup on Sunday February 13. Ho Ho Khan’s feat is one for the record books, being the first horse to carry more than 58kg to victory in more than a century!
Ho Ho Khan has been a challenging horse to place over the Spring/Summer due to his desire for softer tracks and a high rating, however Freedman’s patient approach has paid dividends with the quality galloper winning two in a row. Freedman commented post race “His ability to maintain a high fitness level between runs is a credit to the staff and a testament to the horses staying ability.”
A patient ride by Tahlia Hope presented Ho Ho Khan at the top of the straight before he launched to a 4 length romp. Hope describes the entire as “very push button” and felt confident in the horse she had underneath to get the job done.
Ho Ho Khan will now be seeking to add the Group 3 Launceston Cup to his impressive record and back to back stakes victories. Lets hope he can cement himself in Tasmanian Racing folklore and be one of the few to complete the double, particularly carrying such weight.
