Delta Tango proved too good for her rivals in 0-64 grade at Sportsbet-Ballarat, adding her third career victory. A mare who has shown progressive staying ability in mid-week metropolitan grade, yesterday’s victory second-up will see Delta Tango beaming with confidence as she steps out to her niche distance. Freedman admitted “I haven’t quiet worked her out yet… but have found out to 2000m she shows a good turn of foot.” Jockey Declan Bates shared Mitch’s thoughts, explaining post-race “she needed this run to get her to where she needs to be – to win today was a great bonus.” No doubt she is a horse to follow this preparation.
It was pleasing to see Delta Tango build into the race and be strong to the line, she is a horse who can be difficult to get the best out of, yet Declan Bates certainly has found the key to her. Bates, who partnered her first up said the mare gave him a nice feel today, “from the 600 she was really starting to warm up and gave a good kick off the bend.”
Freedman was thrilled with the result for the 5yo mare who requires a little extra attention within the stable. Freedman quoted post-race “Full credit to the team at home… The farriers do a great job with her, all credit goes to them.” We are blessed to have such great farriers who take exceptional care of our horses, ensuring their feet are in great shape on race day.
The Freedman stable love training winners in the Red and Black Stars of McGrath Racing. We are confident Delta Tango can build through her grades and win more races this preparation, showcasing the same talent she shows at home.
