Tuscan Sun was a well-deserved maiden winner, breaking through at start five on Tuesday May 16 at Stawell.
Tuscan Sun, the first foal from multiple stakes-winning mare Tuscan Sling, had a long road to getting to the races. Unfortunately, as a younger horse, he has had two suspensory ligament issues and has required long periods of rehab. The patience Mr Jamieson and Mr Ryan displayed with this horse, along with the faith from trainer Mitch Freedman has been unwavering. “It was very satisfying to see Tuscan Sun put it all together and get a well-deserved victory for his connections. He is a horse who has had issues along the way, and I must thank Gilgai Farm & Limerick Lane for their patience and trust.”
Only in his fifth start as a 4yo gelding, Tuscan Sun has continued to get better at every start. With the addition of blinkers, he improved sharply and was placed twice at his previous two starts, before finally breaking through at Stawell. Jarrod Fry, who has partnered Tuscan Sun at every start, was very pleased with the effort of the gelding. “Today was the best turn of foot he has displayed and he just keeps getting better with racing.”
As a Vobis Gold nominated son of Cable Bay, Tuscan Sun is eligible for the Victorian Vobis Sires Boost, adding extra gusto to his victory. Gilgai Farm & Limerick Lane are great supporters of the Victorian Breeding Industry and deserved recipients of the bonus scheme. Tuscan Sun is a horse who has great upside and will continue to improve as he grows with experience. We can’t wait to see him stepping up in grade at his next start.
