Atahu has always possessed the ability to win races and in her second start for Mitch Freedman, she put it all together, with a dominant 2.5length win at 80-1!
An A1 ride from Tahlia Hope settled Atahu just behind the hot speed, where she was able to switch off and get the run of the race. Approaching the turn, she had the trail of the eventual second placegetter which brought her right into the race and within the final furlong she showed a dazzling turn of foot, winning by 2.5lengths eased down, ears pricked on the line.
Following some below-par performances, it was very pleasing to see the ownership group rewarded for their patience with the filly and their trust in the Mitch Freedman team. Freedman said post-race “She jumped out well before a disappointing first race for the team on the Ballarat polytrack, so it was great to see her turn it around and get a win for her owners.”
Congratulations to the ownership group and any lucky supporters of the stable who found her at the price!
