The ever-consistent Gusmao added his second career Victoria on Murtoa on Saturday July 15.
Gusmao is a horse who always puts in his best effort, missing the placings only four times from his fourteen starts but unfortunately often has been dis-advantaged by the barrier or luck in running. On Saturday the stars aligned, as he ran on strongly from the back of the field to score his second career win.
Once he hit the front, he laid in under pressure, such is his greenness when he burst past his rivals. He will take great confidence from his second career win and will continue to improve with racing. Mitch Freedman had great confidence in the horses’ ability, knowing he had the talent to win in restricted benchmark 58 grade. “Gusmao has been a consistent horse and was building towards a win this preparation. Now with confidence on his side, we hope he can continue to go on with it”
Albeit only winning two races, he has given his owners a great thrill at the races, always putting himself in the race and running consistent. He is etching close to the $100,000 prize money mark and his well and truly paying his way. A special mention to owners Bob & Lyndie Le Marshall and Lachlan Rix, who are always there on the track to support their favourite horse.
