Jackie’s Maid is a full-sister to Moonlight Maid, Freedman’s first stakes performer and an iconic mare who is a Group 2 winner and twice Group 1 placed.
Just like her big sister, Jackie’s Maid was simply a class above debuting at the 1200m and looks destined for greater heights. Winning on debut is an incredible feat for any horse, but for the connections of Jackie’s Maid, they are delighted just to have her alive, let alone an aspiring 3yo filly who looks like she can rise rapidly through the grades.
Jackie’s Maid was incredibly ill as a foal and there were times where it looked like she might not make it if it wasn’t for the swift action of Limerick Lane’s Tony Merrifield and Sweetenham’s Jackie Congdon. Mitch Freedman was delighted with the performance of the filly and paid full Credit to Mr Merrifield and his team for getting Jackie’s Maid to where she is today. “We’ve managed her with kid gloves and she doesn’t know a lot yet, but she is a filly with great talent. We haven’t pushed her too hard with her being immature and we want her to be a horse in the stable as a 4 & 5yo to climb to a good level.”
The future looks very bright for this filly, may her fighting spirit and determination hold her in good stead for her career.
