Consistent galloper Docinthe brought up his third career victory at Terang on Friday February 14, bringing up a double for the Freedman stable.

Typically, Docinthe is a tad slow away from the gates and travels in the second half of the field which on paper was not ideal for the way Terang was playing. The pattern at Terang looked to be playing advantageous to the leaders and closer to the speed, however we see time and time again when this is the case, it becomes an early race to the lead and subsequently those who charge forward feel the pinch late.

With his first race ride on Docinthe, Will Gordon understood the horse and executed a great ride, allowing him to be comfortable in transit and staying tight around the corner, allowing Docinthe to build through his gears, running an enormous last 400m to win by the narrowest margin. Will Gordon commented post-race “he let down really nicely in the straight and was in the fight late, to come from back in the field and get over the top of them was a really dominant effort.”

Docinthe is a horse who always gives his all, finishing in the placings ten of his seventeen starts and is etching close to $100,000 in prize money. He has been a great stalwart for the stable and we hope to see him back in the winners stall again soon.
