Ho Ho Khan registered his first Australian victory on Saturday January 8 at Caulfield, proving far too strong for his rivals in the Benchmark 100 2000m race.
Ho Ho Khan began his career in New Zealand and was purchased to Hong Kong following a budding start to his career. During his career with David Hall in Hong
Kong, the stallion accumulated more than $1million in prizemoney including a victory in the Group 3 Ladies Purse in 2019. Ho Ho Khan was a consistent stakes performer and his ownership group decided a move to Australia would be beneficial for their star and entrusted Freedman with his care.
Since arriving, Ho Ho Khan has flourished in the conditions and has continued to improve each week. He is a pleasure to have around the stable and Freedman is excited to see what 2022 holds. Difficult to place due to his rating and preference for rain affected ground, Ho Ho Khan has seen a lot of the South-East Australian Country side. A trip to Donald before kicking off with a 3rd in the Wodonga Cup, a trip up the Hume Highway to Randwick where he 3.67lengths off the leader in the Group 3 Summer Cup and finally breaking through at Caulfield.
Freedman said “He’s covered some miles this preparation, displaying his toughness and constitution for racing. Ho Ho Khan’s Wodonga cup run was terrific and the Sydney run was a forget with the way the race panned out, a return to the winners circle was terrific to see and he looks like a rise in distance will see him compete at an even better level in Australia.”
Thank you to the connections of Ho Ho Khan for the opportunity to have this stallion as part of our team in Ballarat. We also would like to thank David Noonan and his team at Balnarring for their work at the beach where Ho Ho Khan has spent a considerable amount of time. We are excited to see what he can do in 2022.
