Oraqua, a new addition to the Mitch Freedman stable was a dominant winner on Saturday September 13 at Donald.

Oraqua is a lightly raced imported mare for Roll The Dice racing and has shown glimpses of the talent she possesses, mixing her form but had not quiet put it all together. Since arriving to the Mitch Freedman stable, Freedman has been patient with the her, allowing her to settle into her new surroundings and learning about her all the time.

Freedman said “She arrived with good race fitness under her belt and we just have changed a few things up with her, modifying her diet and utilising the great facilities at Ballarat to give her a reset mid preparation. We know with these mares, sometimes that can really bring them on.”

The race unfolded nicely in Oraqua’s favour, she was able to utilise her good draw and travel comfortably behind a strong speed. From the 600m, Jarrod Fry was able to angle his way off the fence, allowing the pair to obtain clear running around the leaders who were beginning to feel the pinch of the strong tempo set. Fry said “we were biding our time coming into the straight but I always felt she was ready to let rip.” Oraqua put the race to bed very quickly, skipping clear to win by a comfortable 4.5 lengths.

The partnership between Roll The Dice and Mitch Freedman has produced three of the stable’s seven winners so far this season – a fantastic return. Thanks to Roll The Dice for their continued support. Be sure to keep an eye on Oraqua as she continues to rise through the grades this Spring!
