They say patience is a virtue in racing and Jammin Jimmy has required plenty, breaking his maiden in only his third start, at age 5. Jammin Jimmy is out of South Street, making him a half relation to the esteemed former stable star Southern Moon and exciting prospect Lloyd The Leopard, who now has moved on to Hong Kong.
Jammin Jimmy is a gentle giant around the stable and has taken a long time to grow and develop into his enormous frame, but now as a 5yo, we hope to see the best of him. Jammin Jimmy has always shown he has the ability to win races, with a promising 2nd and 3rd at his first two starts earlier this year when racing at midweek metropolitan level. Returning off a winter break, the time was now for Jammin Jimmy to take another step as a racehorse and it was really pleasing to see him win first up. Bred by Mr Mike Hirst, the race at Seymour included Vobis Gold and Vobis Platinum incentives, making it an extremely valuable race for him to be winning.
After a lean start to the racing season and not an ounce of luck, Freedman has strung together four wins this month, including three wins from seven runners in the past week. Looking back just twelve months ago, it was from October through the summer months that the stable really got on a roll last year, so keep your eyes peeled for some exciting upcoming runners!
Congratulations to Mr Mike Hirst and connections of Jammin Jimmy on securing his maiden victory.
