Kaliuwaa Falls returned to Geelong on Wednesday April 13 for another victory, making it two for two at the venue. Partnered once again with star jockey Jye McNeil, Kaliuwaa Falls took a great step forward, winning his next start after breaking his maiden, something a lot of horses struggle to do. Showing great improvement from his maiden victory, Kaliuwaa Falls strode clear to an easy one-length victory.
Kaliuwaa Falls travelled nicely in the back half of the field and once he balanced up in the straight, he easily put away his rivals with his elegant, long-bounding action. Freedman admitted post-race “he still has a lot to learn” but was extremely pleasing to see the 3yo gelding get the results on the track after showing so much potential at home. Jye McNeil shared Freedman’s appreciation for the horse, “Mitch has got him going really well… He is a horse that is going to go through his grades nicely.”
Kaliuwaa Falls continues an impressive start to the 2022 calendar year for the Freedman team, adding victory number five from twelve starters. Freedman praised the efforts of his staff at home, who are continuing to do a fantastic job, working under pressure amongst labour shortages amongst the industry.
The Freedman team have a busy Easter Weekend ahead, with runners all weekend and hopefully more winners to come. We wish all our owners and connections a happy Easter and an enjoyable break spent with family and friends.
