Like many during the school holidays, Ostile had plenty of opportunity to travel and see the countryside, although this not necessarily by intention. Unfortunately, with an injured jockey at Wangaratta, the races were abandoned before race 10, which he was scheduled to race. Fortunately, as a backup option, he was nominated for a race at Mt Gambier on the Wednesday, which ultimately was a winning decision.
The lightly raced son of Shocking is coming into his own now as a 4 rising 5yo. Post race Freedman commented “The breed take a long time to come to hand and he s no exception. He had a significant split bone injury as a young horse and it is a real testament to everyone that has been involved in his rehab to get him back to the full health and now to be winning races.”
Ostile was ridden by Campbell Rawiller and was his first winner for the stable. Rawiller executed Freedman’s race instructions perfectly, which earnt him ride of the day at the meeting.
Freedman hopes that now with maturity on his side, Ostile can sustain a strong racing preparation through the winter months and keep improving with racing and now progressing to the staying trips. With a low rating on his side, Ostile looks capable of being a horse that can string together some good performances, ultimately repaying the faith of his ownership group. Congratulations to OTI racing and the ownership group in Ostile on his 2nd career victory.
