He was up in class and distance but that didn’t stop the in-form Not To Know recording his second win in a row when taking out the 2000m BM84 contest at Warracknabeal on Saturday.
The second leg of a stable double with Geodesic breaking his maiden earlier in the day, Not To Know did a great job stepping up from an 1800m BM 64 but on his side was a sizeable drop in weight – 5kg in fact!
“He had been lumping big weights in lesser races,” Mitchell noted, “and that big weight drop has been a successful formula for me… and has proved to be so again.”
“It was a very tough on speed effort,” he continued.
“I was quite pleased to see a horse take him on early as I knew that would only spur him on and get the others behind him off the bit and chasing.”
Getting well in front mid-race, Not To Know was pressured at the 700m but was again in control turning, looking to have plenty in hand at the line saluting by 3/4 length.
It was win number four for the consistent seven-year-old who had more than a year off the scene following a suspensory injury. Kicking off his career in Queensland, the son of US Group One winning miler Nothing To Lose won twice there and now twice here. Congrats to happy owner/breeder Bruce Potts.
