Honest performer Danigree made it two wins from his last three runs when proving a class above his rivals in a BM64 event at Horsham on Sunday – the five-year-old cruising home to a 1 1/4 length victory.
Well fancied having caught the eye with a strong finish after getting back from a tricky wide gate at his previous outing, Danigree was well handled by his regular rider Jarrod Fry who eased him back off a fast start from another awkward barrier.
Edging a bit closer to the leaders from the 600m, Danigree hooked out wide into the clear approaching the turn – travelling so well at the time that his ears were pricked! Hitting the lead at around the 100m, he quickly put ground on his rivals.
“He is racing in great form,” Mitchell enthused.
“He has improved a bit this preparation and is much more relaxed about his racing.”
“And he was aided by Horsham being prepared so that horses could get their toe in.”
The winner of four of his 14 starts, the son of consistent stallion Danerich is raced by happy owners Chris Daniel, Jack Kelly and J Plowman.
Bred by Frank Salaintri, Danigree is out of the three times winning Gilded Time mare Filigree whose dam is the multiple city winning Bureaucracy mare Thredbo.
