Exciting young gelding Watch Capital was able to win at his second career start at Terang, in what was the first of three winners for the Freedman team on the day.

Watch Capital was well fancied on debut at Yarra Valley, but unfortunately got things wrong, beginning poorly and then over-racing which ultimately saw him throw the race away. With that valuable race day experience now on his side, Watch Capital delivered a much more polished performance at Terang, jumping away with the field and establishing an early lead, which he maintained throughout, running away to a 1.25 length victory.

The speedy son of Capitalist was purchased from the Mill Park draft at the Magic Millions Adelaide Sale in 2023 and has always shown ability, but the team have had to be patient with him along the way. “He has always shown a good level of sprinting talent at home and we thought he might make it to the races as a two year-old, but he had a couple of minor issues, which have required time and ongoing management.” Freedman said. The team have been instrumental in their handling of Watch Capital and it is always satisfying for all involved when a horse like he, who requires some extra ‘TLC’ is able to get to the races and be delivering on expectations.

Freedman said post-race “Things just didn’t pan out for him at Yarra Valley but it was really pleasing to see him bounce back today. He is a fast, competitive horse who likes to be free-flowing on the speed and John Allen was able to execute the race plan perfectly today.”

Congratulations to the team and connections of Watch Capital, keep an eye out for him in some sprinting races of higher calibre in the future!
